ABOUT US
Hi, I'm Mrs Serene Wee, founder of Thriving Kids Club,
a mother of three boys, and an educator with two decades of experience. My journey has taken me through classrooms, boardrooms, and conference stages, but my purpose has always remained clear: to empower young minds not only to succeed academically but to thrive in every aspect of life.
As a former MOE Head of Department for English Language, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with hundreds of students, guiding them through critical learning stages and challenging them to reach their fullest potential.
My background includes a BA (Hons) in English and an MA in Applied Linguistics, and I’ve worked extensively as a pioneer in setting up a primary school as part of the FutureSchools@Singapore—an initiative designed to prepare our students for a world constantly being reshaped by technology. It was in those days that I developed my passion for creating an educational experience that goes beyond traditional learning, one that prepares our students for the rapidly changing VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) world.
Awards and Accolades
Through my years in education, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition, including the Ministry of Education – Microsoft Professional Development Award (MMPDA) in 2010 and the opportunity to represent Ministry of Education at Singapore Day in Sydney in 2013. I’ve also had the honor of being a speaker and panelist at national and international conferences, sharing insights on resilience, growth, and learning in an ever-changing world. As part of my journey, I’ve travelled to schools in Japan, Australia, and China, gathering insights that I bring to every lesson at Thriving Kids Club.
A Personal Commitment to Every Family
As a parent, I know the dreams, hopes, and aspirations you have for your child. That’s why I pour my heart into every session, working to unlock each student’s unique potential. At Thriving Kids Club, we aim to go beyond grades. We’re here to help your child discover their strengths, grow their confidence, and ignite a love for learning that will empower them for life.
The Story Behind the Thriving Kids Club Logo:
A Heart of Learning
At Thriving Kids Club, we don’t just teach English. We’ve built a place where each child’s unique strengths, challenges, and aspirations are at the center of what we do. Our heart-shaped jigsaw logo isn’t just a symbol; it’s our philosophy.
Every child is a unique puzzle, and our mission is to find the pieces that will spark joy, inspire resilience, and unlock their confidence.
Introducing the T.H.R.I.V.E. Strategy
To bring this philosophy to life, I created the T.H.R.I.V.E. Strategy—a holistic approach that combines Tailored Learning, Holistic Development, Resilience Building, Inspirational Teaching, Vision for Success, and Excellence in Execution. This strategy is the heart of Thriving Kids Club, designed to not only boost academic results but to build lifelong skills and resilience. My goal is for every student to leave Thriving Kids Club with the confidence and mindset to take on challenges, not just in school but wherever life takes them.
What is the
T.H.R.I.V.E. Strategy?
The T.H.R.I.V.E. Strategy is our educational philosophy, guiding every lesson and interaction. It stands for:
T – Tailored Learning: Personalized strategies that cater to each student's unique strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring they receive the support they need to excel.
H – Holistic Development: Focusing on the overall growth of the student, including academic mastery, emotional resilience, and a positive mindset that prepares them for challenges beyond the classroom.
R – Resilience Building: Empowering students to overcome obstacles and bounce back from setbacks with confidence, fostering a resilient spirit that carries them through exams and life.
I – Inspirational Teaching: Engaging and motivating instruction that ignites a passion for learning, encouraging students to strive for excellence and believe in their potential.
V – Vision for Success: Helping students set clear, achievable goals and providing them with the tools and mindset needed to turn those goals into reality, ensuring they not only succeed but thrive.
E – Excellence in Execution: Delivering high-quality, results-driven education that not only meets but exceeds expectations, guiding students to perform at their best in every aspect of their academic journey.
