Oral is one half of Speak Up, Score Up™. For the most complete preparation, pair it with the separate Situational Writing bootcamp, each delivered as its own focused four hour session.
Every strategy in this bootcamp is tailored specifically for the new 2025 PSLE Oral format, which demands far more of your child than the format of previous years.
The Stimulus-based Conversation has changed. Your child's preparation must change with it.
In the past, the conversation questions were relatively predictable. A photograph would appear and your child would be asked something like "How do you think the people in the photograph might be feeling? Why?". The new 2025 format is far more demanding.
These questions are no longer about naming a feeling or describing an action. They require your child to quickly pick out specific details in the photograph, use those details to make a reasoned inference, and consider the decision-making processes and considerations of the people involved. This is a significant leap in reasoning ability, and it catches many well prepared students off guard.
If your child's school or tuition teacher is still teaching the old way, asking only how the people feel or what they are doing, your child is not being prepared for the new 2025 format. The questions have moved on. Your child's preparation must move with them.
Oral Reading has changed too.
The 2025 format now includes a preamble that requires your child to demonstrate understanding of Purpose, Audience and Context before they read. Reading a speech to convince classmates about the importance of recycling is not the same as telling a story for a storytelling competition in front of the whole school. The tone, pace, and expression must shift to match the situation.
In this bootcamp, your child will learn how to deliver the passage in a way that shows the examiner they truly understand who they are speaking to and why, how to read a stimulus at speed, extracting the details that matter, and how to build a response that shows genuine reasoning rather than surface observation.
